OTL 좌절 금지

just had a chat with my friend. and learned that they use orz more often in Taiwan instead of OTL.
i didn't know anything about orz. so i googled...
and learned there are a few more emoticons equivalent to OTL such as JTO and OTZ.
also realised that i've been making a false assumption about OTL
for some reason i thought it was the emoticon that is spreaded worldwide from english speaking country.
never guessed that it could be originated from East Asia
(kind of presumed it is english slang or something. well, it's english alphabet after all.)
apperently OTL is only popular in Korea and East Asian countries, besides orz is started from Japan.
in fact when i think of it, i've never seen anyone using it on FB in the uk.
why did i ever think it's commonly used everywhere?
hmmm... learning new things everyday!
i know it's not a great discovery but still... something! isn't it?  ^o^

OTL: Korean emoticon expressing desperation /disappointment.
(an image of a man kneeling down with both hands to the ground)

OTL is the term used to express a situation where you are so upset that you feel like getting on your hands on the floor and knees down to start crying.
O = shows head down
T = shows stretching arms down on the floor
L = shows kneel down
